Participants badge from the 9th International Porsche Ski Treffen. The Porsche factory started this event in 1958 and sponsored it for the first 10 years. The site was Zurs Arlberg in the Austrian alps. Likewise, the basic design of the event badge stayed the same during the first 10 years with only the colors of the background and the border changing. After 1967 sponsorship was turned over to the larger Porsche clubs in Germany and the venue and sponsorship changed from year to year. 74MM (~ 2 7/8") at the largest dimention. Near mint condition. Fritz Reu makers mark.

Please see http://www.rallyebadge.com/badges/50th-anniversary-of-porsche-356-registry-west-coast-holiday-1998 for the "original" badge from this monumental event. The badge offered here is NOT a reproduction. One of the event organizers received permission to make a short run of badges for people who missed out on the original run of 200 numbered pieces. The stipulation being that something about the design had to be changed, hence the different background color. This "second run" was limited to 40 unnumbered pieces. 90MM (~ 3 9/16") in diameter. Near mint condition.

Porsche the Most Successful Marque in 50 Years of Racing at Sebring. The Porsche crest, winners wreath and checkered flag details really set this piece off. Designed by world famous Jean Baracat of St Tropez. The driver is a detail of the Porsche factory poster from their victory at Sebring in 1959. 78MM (~ 3") top to bottom. Mint condition. (the "rainbow" streaks seen near the bottom of the image are spurious reflections from the scanner)
